OUR NORWICH (NORFOLK) PROJECT
Our Black Dog Theatre Creation has now teamed up with the National Heritage Lottery Fund, Norfolk Records Office, Norfolk Museums and Norwich Quaker Meeting Rooms to offer a new project in Norwich and we couldn't be anymore excited. Our group is open to adults suffering from poor confidence, self-esteem or isolation. We are now also welcoming family, friends or anyone who cares and supports those affected to join us to. We are a very friendly, supportive group who simply use performance skills to have fun and build our confidence.
The Women in War Norwich Community Heritage Project
The Women in War Norwich Community Heritage Project aims to learn about and to honour the women (and men) who served as nurses and ambulance drivers on the frontline during the First World War. During the project we will work alongside the Norfolk Museum Service, the Norfolk Records Office and Norwich Heritage Centre to develop our historical enquiry skills such as accessing the archives and gaining the most from museum visits and exploring artefacts. We will use these skills to learn about the role which they played, their daily routines, the equipment they used and the dangers they were under. We will identify examples of real stories from the Munro Ambulance Corps Dorothie Fielding, Miss Chisholm and Miss Knocker. As well as this, we will pay a particular focus upon local nurse Edith Cavell in the 110th anniversary of her death.
Our first project will be based on bringing to life our Women in War play sharing what we have learnt and creating a special film about local WW1 nurse Edith Cavell. This project has received funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thank you to National Lottery Players we have been able to tell the story of Edith Cavell and local women who served as nurses in WW1
